This is a great starting point for any van/trailer conversion. While there is SO MUCH to learn and keep track of, this course definitely made everything seem manageable and really allowed me to begin the process of my own conversion with a LOT more confidence and understanding of the build needs/timeline.

Hannah Brackenbury

Brilliant course, a detailed overview on how to build your campervan from scratch even with no experience. Thoroughly enjoyed it and now very much looking forward to building my van! Thanks Shane.

Gary Stevens

Never had any interest in van conversations before reading this book. Had thought about a ‘day van’ then a possible Motorhome for retirement, but the information and detail contained within Roaming Home has made me think again. A LWB DIY van conversion is now seriously on the cards, plus a whole lot of money saved! Even considering the training course just for further learning before deciding once and for all. Buy the book, be the best investment for the project overall if you serious about a van conversion.

This is a worthy addition to the canon of van conversion books (of which I have several). The advantage of this one is that it is more comprehensive than many of the others and offers more of the practical guidance that is lacking in some of the books - there are inspirational photos but they’re not some mush the point of the book. I’m part way through a conversion and there are certainly things in here that I’ll be using and things I wish I’d known before (skylights on ridged roofs!!!!). Alongside all of this good stuff, I have just the one quibble which is a photo of gluing on a window where the beading hasn’t been started at the bottom of the window - the professional refitting my failed attempt said that not starting at the bottom was the number one cause of leaks.

Great fundamentals and small tips to stop mistakes before they're even made! Very engaging course. Looking forward to my first build

Read this at night while converting my van found it a good read and helpfull. Also the Mrs liked that I had it as she got the tv back and didn't need to watch endless amounts of youtube videos lol. Even when my van is finished i will prob pick it from time to time.

Vishesh Nagpal

Roaming Home is a total gem! It's more than just a manual—it's a passion-fuelled journey that inspires as much as it educates. I loved the bits on the philosophy of van life. Super eye-opening and thought-provoking! The project management part is like a roadmap for us noobies who dream of building our own vans someday🤞. Shane breaks down the monster task into bite-sized chunks, making it feel like a breeze. His guide is super detailed, making it as exhaustive as it gets for converting a van. A must-read for anyone flirting with the idea of van life, seriously!

Helen Arthur

I am working my way through the book as someone who, with much help, has completed a small and simple van conversion. The visual layout and design of the book is beautiful. I appreciated the practical advice about approaching a conversion and suggestions about how to go about planning/keeping on track. For the most part I enjoyed hearing other conversion stories, hunting for ideas and inspiration for tweaks to my van and dreaming into the potential of future conversions. I liked that there is a motivational/reflective slant that brings in the values, heart and a bit of spirit - though in some places this aspect felt a little simplistic. In all I would like to own a hard copy of this book in my hands so I can enjoy returning to soak up ideas and van life dreams.

Helena Moorhouse

The book has been the missing piece in the puzzle for our soon-to-be van conversion. It gives detail guidance and pictures for everything that you'd want, including how to cut and fit windows, breaking down electrical system guidance and questions to ask when buying your van! It doesn't overwhelm you with information and the content is broken down into perfect steps. I particularly love the electricity chapter. We really want to invest and get a good electric set-up for our van without paying a specialist and this book gives us the tools for exactly this. If you're about to convert a van then this is the book to get! It's made creating an accurate budget really easy, which has meant taking the leap is just that little bit easier. You won't regret it!

Donal O'Dea

The book is packed full of everything you’ll need to know if you’re taking on a conversion. The author has an obvious passion for the subject and has interviewed lots of other people who have taken to van life. Full of photos and diagrams it takes you through the steps you need to take and also the range of options available. Personally I worry most about electrics and this section simplified the process for me. Excellent book.
