Vunked Review: Complete Campervan Electric Kits (2025)

My newest van conversion (nicknamed Elvis, a Citroën Jumper L3H3) has been my most hi-tech build yet. Crucially, it’s an all-electric build – no LPG for cooking or heating – which means the electrical system is the heart of the van. In my previous conversions, I sourced electrical parts piecemeal from various suppliers. The result was sometimes chaotic: mismatched components, multiple orders for forgotten fuses or wires, and a lot of guesswork. This time, I wanted a one-stop, complete camper van electrics kit that would save me time and ensure everything is compatible.

Enter Vunked – a UK-based company that offers complete campervan electrical system kits. In this review, I’ll cover why I chose Vunked, what came in their kit for my van, the ordering and delivery experience, the documentation and support they provide, and my honest take on the pros and cons. By the end, you should have a clear picture of whether a Vunked campervan electrics kit is right for your van conversion.

Who/What Is Vunked?

Vunked is a small UK-based team (hi Ross and Alan!) on a mission to simplify campervan electrics. Instead of just selling random electrical bits, they focus on providing complete, pre-designed campervan electrical systems. In plain English, they help you figure out everything you need for your van’s electrics and deliver it in one coordinated kit.

Two things about Vunked immediately stood out to me:

  1. Online System Builder + Human Support: On their website, they have an interactive Builder tool that lets you input your power needs. It then suggests a complete electrical system tailored to you – battery size, solar panels, inverter, charger, wiring, the works. It’s like an expert guiding you through system sizing, and it ensures all the chosen components are compatible. Even better, Ross or Alan double-check the design and are available to chat through any questions. (You’re not just trusting a computer; real humans are behind it to fine-tune and advise.)

  1. Complete Kits with Diagrams & Documentation: Unlike buying parts separately on Amazon or eBay, a Vunked kit isn’t just a bundle of hardware. It comes with a personalized wiring diagram and a step-by-step installation guide specific to your system. That means when you receive the kit, you also receive a blueprint of how everything connects, including fuse ratings and cable sizes. This is a huge deal if you’re a first-timer (or even if you’re not) – it takes so much of the uncertainty out of the installation.

Vunked basically aims to be a one-stop-shop for campervan electrics. They’re based in Glasgow and have a background in engineering and van conversions, so they know the pain points. They boast a 4.9/5 “Excellent” rating on Trustpilot, and as of this writing they’ve helped power over 1000 vans. In short, they were well-aligned with what I needed.

Note: Apart from building a bespoke system with their Builder tool, you can also buy pre-built kits from their shop. This is the quickest way to get up an running with a proven van electrics kit.

Exactly What Vunked Sent Me

So, what exactly do you get when you order a Vunked camper van electrical system kit? In my case, I opted for a high-capacity system to support full-time vanlife and electric cooking. Here’s a breakdown of the major components Vunked sent, grouped by function, and why they were chosen for my build:

Victron Electrical kit
That's a lot of blue...

Core Power & Control Components

Victron MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 Inverter-Charger:

This 3,000 W inverter (with a built-in 120 A AC charger) is the powerhouse of the system. It lets me run heavy-duty AC appliances (like an induction hob) and charges the batteries from shore power when needed. A 3 kW inverter is frankly overkill for many van builds, but for my all-electric cooking setup it’s exactly what I need. Vunked sized this based on my plan to use an induction cooktop and occasional power tools.

Victron Multiplus
Victron MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 Inverter-Charger

Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-50 DC-DC Charger:

This device charges the leisure battery from the van’s alternator (while isolating it to protect the alternator and starter battery). It’s a 50 A model, which is a hefty DC-DC charger – appropriate because I have a modern smart alternator and a large battery bank to fill. This means whenever I drive, I can pump up to 50 A of charge into the battery, significantly reducing generator or hookup needs.

Victron Orion TR smart
Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-50 DC-DC Charger (look how tiny this thing is!)

Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 Solar Charge Controller:

To harvest solar energy, my kit includes a Victron MPPT solar controller rated at 50 A. Initially, I got the smaller 30 A unit, but since I’m installing three solar panels in parallel (total ~370 W solar), the 50 A MPPT was more suitable and Vunked replaced it without a fuss. The larger model provides room for the combined current on sunny days. This MPPT takes the power from the roof and efficiently charges the 12 V battery.

185 W Monocrystalline Solar Panel:

Vunked sent me three 185 W rigid solar panels (Victron-branded). The panel came with mounting brackets and MC4 connectors to make installation straightforward.

300 Ah Lithium Battery (LiFePO₄):

The heart of the system’s storage. In my kit, Vunked included a 300 Ah Victron Smart Lithium battery. This is a top-of-the-line battery with a built-in Bluetooth BMS. 300 Ah is a massive capacity for a van – again, chosen because I’m running an electric kitchen and want several days of off-grid runtime.

Note: Vunked typically offers Fogstar brand LiFePO₄ batteries in their kits for cost-effectiveness (Fogstar is a reputable UK battery maker). In my case I received a Victron battery, but for most folks a Fogstar 230 Ah or 460 Ah battery provides similar performance at a lower cost. (For more on picking a leisure battery and the pros/cons of brands like Victron vs Fogstar, see our Leisure Batteries Buying Guide.)

Lynx Smart BMS & Distributor:

To manage and protect that big battery, the kit uses Victron’s Lynx Smart BMS 500 (a battery management system that can shut off to prevent damage) paired with the Lynx Distributor (a busbar with fuse slots for major circuits). This combo not only keeps the battery healthy, it also neatly distributes power to the inverter, charger, and other heavy draws with appropriate Mega fuses. The Lynx system forms the “power center” of the build – it’s where all the big cables meet.

Victron Cerbo GX and GX Touch 50 Monitor:

These two pieces make up a monitoring system. The Cerbo GX is like the “brain” that talks to all Victron components (inverter, solar, BMS, etc.) and the GX Touch 50 is a 5-inch touch-screen display. Together, they let me see what’s happening in real time – battery state, charging currents, AC loads, etc. – in a slick interface. This isn’t strictly necessary for a basic build, but for a high-end setup it’s fantastic to have. It turns the electrical bay into a mini power plant control room, and it’s very helpful for troubleshooting or just geeking out on your power usage.

Distribution & Protection Components

Fuses: Vunked supplied every fuse already sized for my system—400 A on the inverter, 60 A on the solar, and so on. No math, no guesswork, just the right ratings in the box.

12-Way ATO Fuse Block: For 12 V loads like lights, fridge, and water pump, the kit came with a Bluesea 12-way fuse block (with LED blown-fuse indicators) plus a bag of ATO fuses. Bluesea is top-tier quality, so I was glad to see it.

Bluesea 12V fuse box
Bluesea 12V fuse box

Isolation Switches: They included heavy-duty cut-offs: a 550 A battery isolator for the main feed and a bipolar solar isolator that disconnects both positive and negative. Nothing was overlooked—every circuit that should be disconnectable had the right switch.

AC Shore Power

16 A Inlet: Because I’m running a MultiPlus inverter/charger, the kit included a flush-mount, weatherproof 16 A inlet for shore hookup.

AC Distribution Box: Two compact consumer units pre-fitted with the right RCDs and MCBs were also in the kit—one for the MultiPlus output, one for the shore input. Essentially, it’s a miniature breaker panel designed for vans. Having these pre-selected saved me the headache of sourcing compatible units.

Cables, Connectors & Miscellaneous

Heavy-Gauge Cables: Vunked provided ultra-flexible, marine-grade tinned copper cables in 95 mm², 70 mm², and 16 mm², plus some 6 mm² for smaller runs. Each was specced for current capacity and minimal voltage drop. My only gripe: I needed more cable length than supplied, and had to order extra.

Connectors & Glands: Every fitting was in the box—correct-sized lugs, heat-shrink, MC4s, and a roof gland. It might sound small, but not having to run to the hardware store 10 times for missing terminals was a huge win.

Why this kit fits my brief

My goal was a robust electrical setup capable of supporting full-time vanlife and electric cooking. The 3000 W inverter and 300 Ah battery mean I can cook on an induction stove and run other appliances without constantly worrying about power. The 50 A DC charger and 555 W solar ensure I can replenish that big battery from driving and sun. The components are almost all Victron (a gold standard in campervan electrics), meaning reliability and a cohesive ecosystem for monitoring. In short, the kit was specced exactly to my needs – something the Vunked Builder tool and team helped determine up front.

Ordering & Delivery: The Real Experience

Designing the System with the Vunked Builder

The process starts with Vunked’s online Builder, a configurator that asks about your setup—appliances, days off-grid, whether you’ll use solar, alternator, or shore power. Instead of juggling spreadsheets, the tool turned my answers into a complete, compatible parts list. Before shipping, the Vunked team personally reviews every kit to double-check the sizing.

The result is peace of mind: no missing fuses, no undersized cables, no risk of blowing something up because of a miscalculation. Many Trustpilot reviewers highlight this too—the Builder gives them a foolproof, bespoke system without the overwhelm.

After using the tool, I jumped on a call with Ross to confirm details. He validated my choices and suggested a couple of tweaks to right-size the system. It was clear the goal wasn’t upselling—it was making sure I had the right setup for my needs and budget.

Delivery Day

Once I finalized the order, Vunked got to work assembling the kit. The whole package arrived at my door within about a week (pretty quick considering the size and variety of components). Delivery came in several well-organized boxes. The packaging was top-notch – components were grouped and labeled, delicate electronics like the Cerbo GX were in original Victron boxes within padding, and bags of small bits were clearly marked. I could practically do an inventory just by reading labels and matching them to the packing list.

Victron electrics kit box

Unboxing this kit was like Christmas for a van converter. I laid out all the items on my floor (see image above for my full spread of goodies). It was immediately apparent that nothing was missing. Every fuse, every cable, down to screws and washers, was accounted for. This gave me huge confidence to start the install, because I wasn’t going to hit a roadblock and have to wait a week for a 50 pence part I forgot to order. Many reviewers mention the same relief of having a truly complete kit arrive, highlighting the secure packaging and thoroughness of Vunked’s shipments.

Handling of Swaps and Shortages

In any complex order, there might be a need for the supplier to substitute or adjust parts. Vunked was very transparent and quick in this regard:

  • Upgraded Solar Controller: I initially ordered a 30 A solar MPPT, but after considering my plan for parallel panels, I needed a 50 A unit. Vunked had no issue swapping this out. They charged me only the price difference; no extra handling or fuss. This told me they’re flexible and focused on the right solution, not just sticking to a fixed package.

  • Isolator Mix-up: One minor snafu – the kit’s solar isolator switch that arrived was an AC-rated model (meant for mains), not a DC isolator. I emailed Vunked about this, and immediately they apologized and sent out the correct DC solar isolator switch by courier. Mistakes happen, but their responsiveness in fixing it was A+. It matched what I’d seen in reviews about Vunked’s customer service – quick to respond and make things right.

  • Extra Bits on Demand: While installing, I realized I needed a few extra large gauge lugs and some more cabling. I shot Vunked a message asking if they could sort it – they promptly mailed out a handful of lugs free of charge, I did pay extra for the cabling. These are small things, but they saved me time and showed that Vunked doesn’t consider the sale “done” when you receive the boxes – they truly support you through the installation.

Overall, the ordering and delivery experience felt very premium. The combination of a smart online system designer and friendly expert support meant that by the time I unpacked the kit, I was confident I had exactly what I needed. And the day the kit arrived, it genuinely felt like opening a DIY van electrical system in a box – an oddly satisfying experience I’d definitely pay for again versus scouring the internet for each part.

Vunked

Documentation & Support: Vunked’s Secret Sauce

This is where Vunked won me over. Buy parts piecemeal and you’re left juggling manufacturer manuals or sketchy forum diagrams. Vunked flips that by giving you crystal-clear documentation tailored to your system, plus real human backup when you need it.

Step-by-Step Guide: My kit included a printed booklet (and PDF) that literally walked me through every stage—mounting components, crimping lugs, fusing circuits, testing the system. Fuse ratings and cable sizes were clearly marked, safety reminders were built in, and the language was plain English. It felt like being coached by a friend rather than decoding an engineer’s manual.

Van wiring instructions
Vunked provide an extensive step-by-step installation guide

Custom Wiring Diagram: They also supplied a wiring diagram drawn specifically for my setup. Every part was laid out, with cable gauges and fuse sizes annotated. No guessing, no generic templates—just “this goes here, that goes there.” Customers repeatedly call this diagram a lifesaver, and I see why.

And a bespoke wiring diagram just for you

Real-Time Support: Even with solid docs, I had questions. Ross and Alan replied quickly—sometimes the same day, even on weekends—with annotated diagrams or a quick call. When I wasn’t sure about MultiPlus settings, Ross personally walked me through the Victron app. That kind of support is rare in the DIY world; normally once you buy, you’re on your own.

The Difference vs DIY: Honestly, the documentation and support are what you’re really buying. If I’d sourced parts myself, I’d have wasted days puzzling over fuses and compatibility... and I'm a certified electrical installer for motorhomes! With Vunked, I had one accountable supplier and a safety net under my project.

In Short: Vunked’s moat is clear documentation plus responsive support. It’s not just a box of parts—it’s a guided install with experts on call. For first-timers or anyone who doesn’t want to gamble with electrics, that’s invaluable.

Pre-Built Systems: Side-by-Side Comparison

If you don’t want to custom-design everything, Vunked also offers a few pre-configured electrical system kits. These come with set components at a package price. Below is a side-by-side comparison of their main pre-built kits, including what’s in each and who it’s best suited for:

Ideal For

Occasional campers – 12V essentials only (lights, fridge, USB).

Extended trips or remote work – moderate power (laptop, camera, small devices, occasional AC).

Full-time vanlifers – high power demand (running appliances, tools, all-electric setups).

As you can see, the specs scale up significantly. The small kit is very simple (no inverter, just a battery, solar, DC charger and the necessary fusing/distribution). It’s perfect if you only need 12 V power and want to keep costs down. The medium adds a modest inverter-charger, so you can plug into shore power or run a laptop/TV; it’s a great balanced setup for most weekend warriors or digital nomads. The large is a beast, including the same MultiPlus 3000 inverter and big battery (similar to what I have), plus the full Victron monitoring suite – it’s designed for serious off-grid living or very power-hungry builds.

Each pre-built kit comes with the same thorough wiring diagram and installation guide tailored to that kit, as well as the Adventure-Ready support. And if one of these isn’t exactly right, you can always tweak a custom build.

For quick reference, Vunked actually names these kits as above (Maverick, Warrior, Explorer) which is kind of fun. They’ve transparently published the full parts list and pricing for each on their site, which I appreciate – it shows how the cost breaks down and that they’re not hiding any “fluff” extras.

Ready to get a system? You have two paths:

  1. Build your custom system – Use the Vunked Builder tool to customize everything to your needs.

  2. Shop pre-built kits – If one of the above kits sounds perfect, you can order it as-is.

Pricing & Value: Vunked vs Piecemeal – Is It Worth It?

Let’s talk £££. Is going with a Vunked kit good value for money? After all, one could try to source all the components individually and maybe shop around for deals. I did a rough comparison and also considered the “hidden” savings:

Transparent, Bundle Pricing:

Vunked’s kits are priced quite competitively given the gear included. For instance, their Medium “Weekend Warrior” kit at ~£2,127 includes a 230 Ah lithium battery, two 185 W panels, a Victron MultiPlus inverter-charger, DC charger, MPPT, and all accessories. If I tally those parts retail: the battery ~£650, MultiPlus ~£310, panels ~£275, DC charger ~£180, MPPT ~£73, plus fuses, cables, etc. – the total comes out very close to Vunked’s price (within maybe £100). And that’s not counting shipping you’d pay ordering from multiple vendors, or the cost of mistakes (ordering the wrong item and re-ordering the right one). Vunked gets distributor pricing on Victron and passes some savings on, effectively bundling at a fair price. They’re not gouging; the kit pricing felt honest and justified to me.

Correct Parts the First Time:

One of the biggest “savings” is getting the right components in one go. In my prior DIY builds, I definitely wasted money on wrong parts (buying a too-small fuse and later replacing it, or ordering cables twice/thrice because I under-calculated length). With Vunked, there was none of that waste – everything was correctly specified. That saved both money and time. Plus, not having to pay separate shipping from 5-6 different suppliers (battery from one place, inverter from another, etc.) saved me probably £150+ alone.

Time is Money (and Sanity):

If you value your time, the hours you save by not researching every nut and bolt are significant. I recall spending weeks agonizing over which charger or which inverter brand to get. Vunked essentially did that homework for me, recommending quality Victron gear known to work together. Also, the time saved during installation thanks to the documentation is huge – less trial and error, no last-minute Amazon orders. As a result, I probably shaved off days from my build timeline.

Avoiding Costly Mistakes:

Electrical mistakes can be expensive or dangerous. Using a wire that’s too thin can cause voltage drop or even a fire. Using the wrong type of fuse can lead to nuisance blows or no protection at all. These kinds of errors might not show up until you’re out on a trip and something fails – then you’re looking at damage to appliances or a rescue situation. By having Vunked ensure the design is done right, you potentially avoid those “oops” costs. That’s a form of value that’s hard to quantify but very real.

In summary, Vunked vs Piecemeal: If you have a lot of components lying around or access to trade discounts, you might save a bit doing it all yourself. But for most DIYers, I suspect Vunked will actually save you money or at least break even when you account for everything. And even if it were a couple hundred more than the absolute rock-bottom DIY cost, I’d say the time, support, and assurance it brings are 100% worth it. To me, the value proposition checked out – I certainly don’t feel I could have built the same system cheaper or better on my own.

Plus, there’s something to be said for the stress reduction. That reduction in mental load is a value in itself. After all, a van conversion is supposed to be fun (at least part of the time!), and Vunked kept the electrics portion of my build firmly in the fun (and exciting) category, rather than the stressful one.

Reviews & Trustpilot: What Other Builders Say

You’ve heard my experience – but what about other van builders who’ve used Vunked? The consensus seems to align strongly with what I’ve found. Vunked currently holds a 4.9 out of 5 stars “Excellent” rating on Trustpilot (with about 130 reviews as of this writing). That’s an impressive score, and digging into the reviews, a few common themes emerge:

“Supported at every step. Vunked were brilliant from start to finish. As a beginner to van electrics, I felt supported at every step... sensible advice that saved me money.” – Brian E. (5⭐ review)
“Complete kit & clear instructions. I was unsure what electrical system I needed until I came across Vunked. They literally do everything for you – all you need to do is answer a few questions about what you want from your setup. They send you absolutely everything you need and you get a very detailed, easy to understand guide and wiring diagram.” – Adam (5⭐ review on Trustpilot)
“No missing bits, no stress. We didn’t have to stress about what size fuses, wires, or connectors to get — Vunked sorted all of that and gave us a super clear custom diagram. From the very start, they were friendly, quick to reply, and always happy to help out. It made the whole setup way less overwhelming and way more fun.” – Heather & Dan (@ventures_with_reggie)
“Documentation was a godsend. Vunked helped hugely in making sure we specified the right size and type of equipment... Once we committed to the kit we wanted, the wiring diagram and instructions were a godsend.” – Charlie & Mel (@twogirls_onesausage_onevan)

It’s actually hard to find a negative review; nearly everyone gives 5 stars. People frequently praise the customer service, noting how responsive and patient the team is (answering newbie questions and offering guidance). The clear instructions and the feeling of relief at getting a complete kit are also recurring points. Many mention fast delivery and well-packaged orders as well.

Reading through these reviews, I found myself nodding along. The social proof backs up exactly what I experienced: Vunked delivers on support, clarity, and completeness. The Trustpilot score of 4.9⭐ speaks for itself – customers are happy because their van electrics projects succeeded with less hassle and more confidence. It’s always good to cross-check such a major purchase with others’ experiences, and in Vunked’s case, the positive feedback is consistent and credible.

Pros & Cons of Vunked

No product or service is perfect, and Vunked is no exception. Here’s my candid take on the pros and cons of going with a Vunked campervan electrical kit:

Pros

Cons

Complete, compatible system in one go: You get everything you need in one kit – no missing fuses, no extra widgets to buy. All parts are matched and designed to work together, which removes so much guesswork.

Occasional stock issues or substitutions: In rare cases a part might be out of stock or a minor mix-up happens (as I had with a switch). However, Vunked resolved these quickly and professionally, so the impact was minimal.

Strong documentation & support: The custom wiring diagram and installation guide are top-notch, making the install approachable even for beginners. Plus, Ross and Alan are available for help, which is like having an expert on call.

Not for ultra-bespoke or trade installs: If you’re a professional converter with very specific brand preferences, or you want an uncommon component, Vunked’s kits (mostly Victron-based) might not tick every box. They cater more to common setups and might not include niche or experimental tech some pros use.

Competitive pricing vs DIY sourcing: The kit pricing is fair and often cheaper than sourcing all components individually once you factor in shipping and extras. And you save time and avoid costly mistakes (indirect savings).

Heavy cables not pre-crimped by default: You’ll receive the thick battery cables and separate lugs, so you need the proper crimping tool or get them crimped. Some DIYers might prefer pre-terminated cables. (Vunked may be able to do this on request, but in my kit they were uncrimped.)

Quality components (Victron & more): The kits use reputable brands (Victron Energy for electronics, Fogstar for batteries, etc.). You’re not getting no-name cheap components. And if you opt for a Fogstar battery, you save money while still getting a high-quality LiFePO4.

(Honestly, that’s about it for cons – I had to dig to find any!)

In summary, the pros heavily outweigh the cons in my experience. The only real downsides are relatively minor: you might have to do a bit of cable lug crimping, and the system is designed around certain high-quality brands (which for 99% of us is a good thing). The benefits – especially the completeness and support – are hard to overstate.

Who It’s For / Not For

Who would I recommend Vunked to?

Ideal for: First-time van converters, DIYers who are short on time or less confident with electrics, and anyone who “just wants it done right the first time.” If you value support and avoiding hassles, Vunked is ideal. It’s also great for those who want a high-quality electrical setup (Victron-based) without spending endless hours researching and shopping. Even experienced folks who simply don’t have the time or energy to wrangle dozens of parts could benefit – for example, if you’re converting a van while working full-time and can’t afford delays or mistakes, Vunked provides a streamlined solution.

Maybe not for: Hardcore DIY tinkerers who enjoy the process of sourcing every component and perhaps have very unique requirements. Also, professional van builders or electricians who already have supplier accounts and know exactly what they want might find a one-size kit too limiting – they might prefer to spec out every nut and bolt themselves. If you have very bespoke needs (say you want to integrate an existing unusual component, or you want a completely different brand like Renogy or Sterling throughout), Vunked’s Victron-centric kits might not align. In short, if you pride yourself on custom electrical engineering or have a special scenario, you might not be the target customer.

For most typical van builds, though – especially in the campervan self-build community – Vunked hits the sweet spot of convenience, safety, and quality. If you read this far and are nodding along with the headaches I described about DIY electrics, you’re probably who Vunked is for.

Warranty and Aftercare

Vunked provides solid warranty coverage and ongoing support. All Victron Energy components and batteries in the kit come with a 5-year warranty, and other components have a 1-year warranty. In practical terms, if anything fails due to a manufacturing defect, they’ll help you sort it out (either repair or replace, depending on the item). The “Adventure-Ready Guarantee” means they don’t leave you hanging after purchase – even a year or two later, you can reach out for troubleshooting help. It’s a level of aftercare that’s rare in the DIY market. So, you can have peace of mind that you’re not on your own if something goes wrong. (Of course, you should always follow the installation guide to not void any warranties – e.g., use the proper fuses, don’t short-circuit stuff, etc.)

Final Verdict

Would I recommend Vunked? Absolutely yes. This Vunked campervan electrics kit has turned what is usually the most nerve-wracking part of a van build into a smooth, almost enjoyable process. I got a high-quality, properly engineered electrical system without the usual headaches of sourcing and spec-ing everything myself. The support and documentation were exceptional – it felt like I had an expert partner throughout the build. My van Elvis now has an electrical setup I trust.

It’s telling that after going through this experience, I decided to partner with Vunked officially. That decision was based on how strongly I believe in their approach – it aligns perfectly with the ethos of The Van Conversion blog: making van builds accessible, safe, and well-informed. Vunked empowers DIYers to do it right the first time, and that’s something I’m excited to stand behind.

Final words: If you’re embarking on a van conversion and dread the electrical phase (or simply want a reliable system without months of research), Vunked is a game-changer. It’s not the cheapest route upfront, but in my opinion, it delivers outstanding value and peace of mind.
